Neopentyl Glycol (NPG) prices saw a downward revision in the Mumbai market today, with rates falling by Rs.2/kg Market participants attribute this price drop to the recent decline in the cost of its key raw material, formaldehyde, which has also witnessed a notable reduction in the last few days. According to sellers, the softening in formaldehyde prices has directly impacted NPG pricing, prompting suppliers to adjust their offers accordingly. However, with the current market sentiment remaining uncertain, most traders and sellers suggest that it is difficult to predict whether prices will rise or fall in the coming week. Last six months market trend: Looking at the six-month price trend, NPG prices have shown normal fluctuations since early November. On 20th December, the price stood at Rs.130/kg, which then rose to Rs.135/kg by 24th December, reflecting a Rs.5/kg jump within a few days. From late December to mid-March, the market remained relatively steady with minor shifts. Post mid-March, prices moved up again—from Rs.132/kg to Rs.145/kg by the mid of april. However, with today’s adjustment, the market has softened slightly by Rs.2/kg from Rs.145/kg to Rs.143/kg, Raw material last six months market trend Over the past six months, Formaldehyde has experienced several ups and downs. On 8th November 2024, the price was Rs.28.5/kg, which dropped sharply to Rs.25/kg by 12th November. Following that, the market saw minimal fluctuations for a few weeks.
