US President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a wide range of 'concessional' reciprocal tariffs on several countries, including India. According to this, a 26 percent duty will be levied on goods imported from India. Describing the move as a kind of reciprocal tariff, Trump said the tariffs would not be fully reciprocal and the US would collect about half of the tariffs imposed on Washington from other countries. At a press conference at the White House, Trump showed a chart showing a list of countries, including India, The countries on which new duties are to be imposed are currently imposing duties on the US. He said that India imposes 52 percent duty on US imports. The US reciprocal duty has been announced to come into effect from 12.01 am on April 9. ![]() | |
