According to Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, DeepSeek’s low-cost AI innovation and its market impact are noteworthy. Gelsinger remains optimistic that artificial intelligence will advance and that new concepts will emerge in the field, despite the decline in Nvidia’s stock price. Last week, the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek made headlines in the IT industry with their inexpensive AI assistant, which is allegedly 20–50 times less expensive to train and run than OpenAI’s models. The news had a significant effect on the stock market; investors were concerned that there might be less demand, which caused Nvidia’s market value to drop by up to $600 billion. Gelsinger defended DeepSeek’s discovery as a win-win for the AI market and even more advantageous for companies like Nvidia in a LinkedIn article that was largely eulogistic of the potential (just a sprig of defiance crept out).  | |
