Use internet portals or phone calls to insurance companies to confirm the patient's eligibility and benefits. Prior to charge input, make sure all necessary documentation (such as patient charts and encounter forms) is present. Examine patient records and paperwork to make sure that billing and coding information is accurate, looking for any inconsistencies or missing data. Correct the data in the system and submit the claim again to address coding or demographic-related claim denials.
