Wisdom and understanding!

James 1:5 (KJV) If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

[If you humble yourself and admit you don't have enough true wisdom to understand His word, He tells us to ask Him for that wisdom. He can open our minds (spiritual eyes and ears) to the understanding of His truths. See Proverbs 1:7 and all of Proverbs chapter 2 [Incline your heart to godly wisdom and try to understand, seek it, ask Him for it and He will give it to you]. Also see James 3:17. He just told us to ask Him. Also, see Psalm 119:18; Proverbs 1:7, 2:6, 9:10; Jeremiah 33:2-3 and Colossians 2:2].
“UPBRAID” 1. To charge with something wrong or disgraceful; to reproach; to cast in the teeth; followed by with or for, before the thing imputed; as, to upbraid a man for his folly or his intemperance. 2. To reproach; to chide. 3. To reprove with severity.
True Wisdom = Devout and proper prudence in daily interaction with men not disciples of Christ, skill and discretion in imparting Christian truth; the knowledge and practice of the requisites for godly and upright living; supreme intelligence, such as belongs to God; to Christ; the wisdom of God as evinced in forming and executing counsels in the formation and government of the world and the Scriptures.
James 3:13 (KJV) Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
[It is not hard to identify a wise person with true wisdom and knowledge. The person that is truly wise is humble with the knowledge and wisdom that he or she has; they don't boast. They know from where their wisdom comes, and they are willing to help others when they can. A person with this kind of wisdom can actually help you].
James 3:15 (KJV) This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
[There is earthly wisdom that doesn't come from God. Where does it come from? What does devilish mean? If you think you know it all now, you'll never ask God for true wisdom. A person with this kind of wisdom can lead you astray. This is the type of wisdom preferred by many today, not true, godly wisdom].
Devilish = proceeding from an evil spirit, demon-like.
James 3:17 (KJV) But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
[This is heavenly, godly wisdom which comes from above; it is true wisdom].
Your beliefs and actions are shaped by the audience to whom you play. It is apparent which wisdom you have, based on your beliefs and actions, who you esteem and where you place your trust. It's easy to tell a tree by its fruits.

Try this website for a good explanation of true wisdom, its qualities and where it comes from.
Far too many people today (2024+) do not understand where true wisdom comes from. Try studying Gods word as we are commanded to do in 2 Timothy 2:15 below:
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
