God's opinion on theft!
Stealing is wrong for a number of reasons: Many forms of stealing violate civil law. Romans 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13-14. Stealing is specifically prohibited in the Scriptures. Exodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal. (Commandment # 8 of the 10). 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - Unrepentant thieves will not enter the kingdom of God. The fact is that there are many ways to be guilty of stealing. Stealing is taking property or possessions that rightfully belong to other people, without the right or permission to do so. There are many different kinds of stealing. While most people know that stealing is not right, many people still practice various forms of it! Some may not realize their guilt, but others justify it and even admire others who practice it. Different forms of theft: Armed Robbery / Illegal Entry; Shoplifting, Looting, Petty Theft; Dishonest Business Practices (Proverbs 11:1); Employees Stealing from Employers; Citizens Cheating on Taxes; Refusing to Pay Debts (Psalm 37:21); Keeping Property You Found, Making No Effort to Find the Owner; Claiming the Work or Knowledge of Others to Be Your Own; Cooperating with Thieves; electronic thefts such as personal info, bank accounts, credit card accounts, etc. Many like to ask why God allows evil to exist like theft? Usually, they deny God exists on one hand, but, then expect everything to be perfect without Him. These many are ignorant of where evil originates. In any case, where does evil originate? What acts are considered to be evil? See the following verses for the answers, (this is not an all inclusive list, man is very inventive when it comes to evil). Mark 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Mark 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: Mark 7:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. Some of the many pertinent verses on “evil”: Psalm 7:14, 28:3, 37:9, 73:7; Proverbs 3:7, 8:13, 12:20; Isaiah 5:20, 32:6; John 3:20; Romans 2:8-12, 12:21; 2 Timothy 2:22; James 1:13-14. Proverbs 4:16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. Micah 2:1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. (Some humans are so evil they can’t sleep till they dream up a way to rip someone off).
