BMW’s iX electric SUV has reigned as India’s best-selling luxury EV for two years. Now, BMW has introduced the powerful xDrive50 variant, featuring a larger battery. Previously, the iX was only available in the xDrive40 variant. Our in-depth instrumented tests reveal the real-world range and efficiency of both models. BMW IX XDRIVE50 AND XDRIVE40 SPECIFICATIONS iX xDrive40: Equipped with a 77kWh battery, this variant delivers 326hp and 630Nm. iX xDrive50: This variant packs a 111.5kWh battery, producing 523hp and 765Nm. REAL-WORLD TESTING METHODOLOGY Our tests, conducted in Efficiency mode with Level 2 regenerative braking, included both city and highway driving. Ambient temperatures of 35-40°C likely impacted performance. REAL-WORLD RANGE AND EFFICIENCY RESULTS iX xDrive50: Boasts a claimed WLTP range of 635km. Our tests showed a real-world range of 504km and an efficiency of 4.8km/kWh. iX xDrive40: Has a claimed WLTP range of 425km. Our tests indicated a real-world range of 356km and an efficiency of 4.63km/kWh. | |
