ECH Prices In India | |
Reports from Indian Petrochem sources highlight an increase in the price of Epichlorohydrin (ECH) in the Mumbai chemical market. Early in February 2024, the Chinese ECH market experienced a surge in prices due to limited supply, primarily attributed to the low production capacity of the feedstock Propylene. Despite relatively weak demand from the epoxy resin market, prices settled at USD 1260/tonne FOB Ningbo on February 2nd. Manufacturers, operating at approximately 50% capacity, prioritized existing contracts, resulting in limited supplies for the spot market and subsequent price hikes. The impact was further exacerbated by maintenance shutdowns of Propylene plants, intensifying the supply constraints. Although feedstock glycerol prices showed improvement, they did not have a significant impact on ECH prices. Despite sluggish demand, particularly in the construction sector, ECH prices continued their upward trajectory, driven by market adjustments. Anticipation of a future price surge persists due to ongoing supply constraints, with the long-term sustainability of this trend contingent on the recovery of downstream demand. Worth noting is the absence of a standout company exclusively dedicated to ECH production in India. | |
