DOTP prices In India | |
In recent updates from sources in the Indian petrochemical industry, there has been a significant surge in the price of Dioctyl Terephthalate (DOTP) in the Mumbai market. This notable increase is mainly linked to disruptions in the supply of the product, and early predictions indicate that this scarcity is likely to persist, leading to substantial price pressures in the near term. The rise in DOTP prices is associated with a heightened demand across various industries, particularly in the plastics and paints sectors. Dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) serves as a crucial plasticizer for PVC, often used as a substitute for ortho-phthalates in various applications. The current surge in demand, especially in the paints and varnishes industry, contributes significantly to the upward trajectory in DOTP prices. While the raw materials for DOTP, namely terephthalic acid and excess octanol, have maintained a stable market rate, some markets are facing shortages, primarily with klj being the main producer. Expectations of price stability emerge with the anticipated arrival of new stock. The prices of Dioctyl Terephthalate (DOTP) have consistently risen since January 8th, and after a brief period of stability, further increases have been observed as of February 08, 2024. The domestic price has now reached Re 1 per kilogram, indicating a substantial increase of Rs160 per kilogram compared to previous rates. | |
