Mauni Amavasya, also known as “Mauna Amavasya”, is an important Amavasya observed on the new moon day of the Hindu month of Magha. According to the English calendar, this Amavasya falls in January-February. Since this fast of Mauni Amavasya falls in the month of Magh, hence it is also known as “Maghi Amavasya”. Another important festival on this day is bathing in Mauni Amavasya (Mauni Amavasya 2024). This practice of taking a holy bath is very important during the Kumbh Mela and Magh Mela.
