How are the textures of automotive interior parts created?
1. Mold texture replication The texture formation of automotive interior parts depends largely on the replication of mold texture. In the mold manufacturing process, various textures can be made on the mold cavity surface through precise processing technology. For example, the shape of the electrode and the discharge texture are used to carve complex patterns on the mold surface by using electrospark machining (EDM) technology. When the plastic melt is injected into the mold cavity, it will be filled and solidified according to the texture shape of the mold surface. This replication method can accurately transfer the texture details on the mold to the surface of the interior parts, just like making a seal, the texture of the mold is the "seal", and the plastic interior parts are the "paper" on which the texture is printed. 2. Chemical etching method Chemical etching is also a common method for forming textures. For the mold surface, a specific chemical solution is used for etching. By controlling the composition, concentration, etching time and temperature of the etching solution, textures of different depths and shapes can be formed on the mold surface. For example, for some interior molds that need to have a matte texture, an etching solution containing fluoric acid can be used, which can slowly dissolve the metal on the mold surface and produce tiny pits, thereby forming a matte texture after injection molding. This method can produce very fine and uniform textures, which is suitable for making interior parts with high-grade touch. 3. Laser texturing Laser texturing is an advanced texture forming technology. Using a high-energy-density laser beam, the mold surface is scanned according to the preset pattern and parameters. The energy of the laser can instantly melt, vaporize or chemically react the material on the mold surface to form the desired texture. This method has high precision and flexibility, and can produce a variety of complex geometric patterns and micro textures. For example, laser texturing can be used to produce an interior mold with imitation leather texture. After injection molding, the surface of the interior will show a realistic leather texture, and the depth, width and shape of the texture can be easily adjusted according to different design requirements. 4. Surface coating and film In addition to making textures on the mold, textures can also be formed on the injection molded interior parts by surface coating and film. For some interior parts that have been injection molded, a layer of textured paint can be applied to their surface. This paint contains special particles or additives, which will form a specific texture after drying. In addition, film technology is also widely used. By covering the surface of interior parts with textured films by hot pressing or gluing, various textures can be quickly given to interior parts, such as wood grain, carbon fiber texture, etc. This method has great advantages in the personalized customization of automotive interior parts.
