Science, really? | |
Science: the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. (Has anyone ever actually observed evolution)? Science council definition of science: Science is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence. (Does real, actual, truthful evidence of evolution exist)? Scientific method (according to Wikipedia): The scientific method is a body of techniques for investigating phenomena, acquiring new knowledge, or correcting and integrating previous knowledge. To be termed scientific, a method of inquiry is commonly based on empirical or measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning. (Could truth be classified as a specific principle)? Evolution: The process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth. The process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth. (The key words in the above statement, in two places, are “thought to have”). Evolution is a process of (continuous) branching and diversification from common trunks. This pattern of irreversible separation gives life's history its basic directionality. — Stephen Jay Gould My stance on evolution: Evolution has never been proved, observed, measured or duplicated. Yes, there are many people that would try to dispute that in many ways; they believe they've observed it and can prove it; they believe the scientific method has been used. Many try very hard to prove life as we know it does not need a creator. No human that is alive today can truthfully/scientifically claim/prove they've observed something that doesn't exist anyway. Some questions follow: Is evolution an ongoing process (continuous)? If not, when and why did it stop? Does it have limits? Is it applicable to all living things or just some of them? Can we observe and measure any living thing between stages of development today? Are there any intermediary living things of any kind to be found in the fossil records or alive today? If not, why not? Where is there evidence of an almost anything? Would we be able to recognize the individual differences in the living thing that is supposedly evolving? Do physical laws such as gravity, thermodynamics and speed of light evolve over time? Just because something is taught as being true, does that mean it is true? People use to think the earth was flat and that the sun orbited our earth. We know better now. My thoughts: Good science requires developing theories that make future predictions, then testing those predictions for accuracy. Trial and error is when attempts are made to figure out how to do something or how it was done in the past. Some think that evolution uses a form of trial and error (natural selection; something survives one way but not the other). Many have theorized it happens that way. Has it ever been proven, now, recently, or ever, that it happens that way? In the end what are we left with? One either believes in evolution or believes in creation. Perhaps there is a third choice; there are probably those that don't believe in or understand either explanation. I know this. I'm totally comfortable believing in creation by God. Food for thought: human DNA is a language; language comes from a mind. | |
